Yaw Agyemang-Duah, Managing Director

Having worked as General Manager and later as acting Managing Director of Ghana Oil Company  Ltd.(GOIL), Mr Yaw Agyemang-Duah was confirmed the Managing Director of the Company in July 2001. 

Under his leadership the Company has made great strides in the marketing of petroleum products and services in Ghana having moved from operating at a loss to increasing profit. The Company quadrupled its earnings between 2000 and 2005 and has been voted Petroleum Company of the Year  three times(2001 ,2005 and 2007) by  the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana.

Prior to joining Ghana Oil Company, Mr Agyemang-Duah was Chief Corporate Planning Officer and Export /Import Manager at Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC), his responsibilities being among others planning and marketing and international trading of crude oil and petroleum products.   

Mr Agyemang-Duah began his career in 1977 as Assistant Project Officer at the Ghana Investments Promotion Center. He rose to the rank of Assistant Director before leaving the organization in 1987.

Active in the oil industry, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Association of Oil Marketing Companies. Moreover he is Board Chairman of the Ghana Bunkering Service and a member of Board of Directors of other companies including Tema Lube Oil Company Ltd, Metro Mass Transit and a few others.

Mr Agyemang-Duah holds a masters degree in Business Administration (Finance and Marketing major) from Syracuse University, New York and Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Science and Technology (now Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology).

He is also a member of a number of professional bodies and associations namely Energy Institute (United Kingdom), Institute of Directors, Chartered Institute of Marketing and International Bunker Industry Association.

 


   
Charles Kwesi Darko, Fuels Marketing Manager

Charles Darko holds a BA (Hon.) degree in Sociology from the University of Cape Coast.

He was employed in GOIL initially as District Sales Representative in 1987 and rose through the ranks to become Area Manager (West) and (South), Public Affairs Manager. He is currently the Fuels Marketing Manager.

He has 32 years working experience to his credit having worked with Shell Ghana Ltd. as General Sales and Retail Sales Representative before joining GOIL as District Sales Representative.

Before joining Shell Ghana Ltd. he taught for four (4) years at Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast.

He has attended a number of courses and seminars both in and outside the country.

   
Joseph Brian Ansah, Administrative Manager

J.B.A. Ansah holds MSc (Hon) degree from Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering, Russia.  He also completed recently an EMBA programme at the University of Ghana Business School.

He recently completed a Certificate in Ministry (Modular) at Trinity College, Legon.

First employed as Sales Engineer by GOIL, he has held several positions in the company including Assistant Projects Manager for the GOIL/World Bank project, Retail Sales Manager, Zonal Manager (West), General Services Manager and Operations Manager.

He was appointed as Admin. Manager in 2005.

He has participated in several programmes including Management Development Programme at Irish Management Institute (IMI), Dublin, Ireland. 

Joseph Ansah has twenty-five years work experience, having first worked with the Ghana Water and Sewerage Company, before joining GOIL in 1983 as Sales Engineer.

   
Stephen Yaw Gyabeng, Solicitor/Secretary

Stephen Gyaben holds a BA (Hon) degree from the University of Ghana, Legon and B.L. degree from the Ghana School of Law.

He was employed as the Legal Affairs Manager of the company in 1999 but is currently the Solicitor/Secretary.

He has twenty-six years working experience including teaching at Aquinas Secondary School.  He joined GOIL after working with State Insurance Company for eleven (11) years.

   
Paul Ohene Tagoe, Operations Manager

Paul Tagoe holds a BSc (Hon) degree in Civil Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology(formerly UST).

Employed initially as Engineering Services Manager in 2000 , he was promoted  Operations Manager in 2005. 

He recently completed an Executive MBA programme at GIMPA, Greenhill.

He is a senior member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers.

Mr. Tagoe has twenty-seven years experience to his credit, having worked with some engineering consultancy firms and construction companies in Nigeria.  He also had a stint with Twum Boafo & Partners, Engineering Consultants in Ghana.  He joined GOIL as Engineering Services Manager in 2000.

   
Alex Adzew, Technical & Special Products Manager

Alex Adzew holds a BSc (Hon) degree in Mechanical Engineering from KNUST, Kumasi.

He was initially employed as Sales Engineer in 1992 but currently holds the position of  Technical & Special Product Manager.

He has participated in several training programmes in Ghana and abroad, particularly with ENI (formerly Agip SpA).  He has also participated in several seminars abroad including one at Harvard Business School in the US and Manchester Business School in the UK.

He also holds an Executive MBA from Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA).

Alex Adzew worked with some companies including Tractor & Equipment Ltd., a division of Unilever Ghana Ltd.  before joining GOIL as Engineer.

   
Peter A.K. Akorli, Finance Manager

Patrick Akorli is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana and an alumnus of the Institute of Professional Studies, Legon.

He was employed as Assistant Accountant in GOIL in 1996 and held several positions including Ag. Chief Accountant, Treasurer, Ag. Finance Manager.  He was appointed Chief Internal Auditor in 2003.

Before joining GOIL Mr. Akorli worked with various Accounting firms including Quansah, Nyame & Co. where the late Finance Minister,  Mr. Baah-Wiredu was his Supervisor.

He has also more than 14 years working experience with the Ghana Education Service as a trained teacher and left in 1993 as a Senior Accountant at Mawuli School, Ho.

Mr. Akorli is a traditional ruler, having been installed in 1987 with the stool name Togbe Adza-Nye IV, the Dutorfia of Ziavi, within  the Asogli Traditional Council.

He completed an Executive MBA programme at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in 2006.

   
Anthony Twumasi, IT & Planning Manager

Anthony Twumasi holds an MSc (Hon)  degree in Computer Science from Stockholm University, Sweden.

Whiles in Sweden he worked with IBM Nordic Laboratories AB and later with Telia Research AB of Stockholm, Sweden. He represented Telia AB, the parent company, in several joint projects which engaged the participation of major telecommunication companies in Europe.

In Ghana he  joined Ernst & Young, a multinational consulting firm as Senior Manager. His major assignment at Ernst & Young was working as a technical adviser to the government of Ghana and Uganda in the computerisation of operations of their respective ministries.

In Ethiopia he conducted a system study at African Union aimed at computerising some of the processes of the organisation

He was employed by GOIL in 2004 as Info. Tech & Planning Manager.

   
Joseph Kofi Nyarko, Health, Safety & Environ. (HSE) Manager

Joseph Kofi Nyarko holds a B Sc. (Hon) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (formerly UST).

Additionally, he holds Post-Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Operations & Development, Petrad, Stavanger, Norway.

He also recently completed an Executive Masters in Business Administration at the Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA).

He was employed initially in GOIL as Project Engineer in 1993.  He previously worked with Lever Bros. Ghana as Maintenance Engineer  in charge of Edibles and Personal Products. He also had a brief stint with Tema Steel Works. 

Mr. Nyarko has held some other positions in GOIL including Works & Services Manager, Distribution Manager and General Services Manager. He was appointed HSE Manager in 2005.

   
Erasmus Ofori Sarkwa, Chief Internal Auditor

Erasmus Ofori Sarkwa holds an Executive MBA, (Marketing Option), BSC. Administration (Accounting Option) and Diploma in Pubic Administration, all from the Business School, University of Ghana Legon. He also has the Advanced Level of CIM, Ghana, and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Accountants, Ghana.

Before joining GOIL, he worked in the following organizations; University of Ghana Legon, Plan Ghana - an NGO in Accra and Cocoa Processing Company in Takoradi, a subsidiary of CMB.

Mr. Ofori Sarkwa has 20 working years to his credit. He joined GOIL in 1997 as an Assistant Accountant and has held serveral positions including Accounts Controller and Zonal Manager, South.

Currently, he is the Chief Internal Auditor.
