The GOIL web site is designed to be viewed with Internet Explorer 4 or Netscape Navigator 6 , in high colour and at an optimal resolution of 1024x768 but at least 800x600. Please see below for more information.
To upgrade your browser
You will need to download and install the latest version of one of the two most popular browsers. To download the latest version of Internet Explorer, click here. To download the latest version of Netscape Navigator, click here.
To change the number of colors your monitor displays
1. Minimise all your windows so that your desktop is visible.
2. Right-click on the desktop and click on "Properties".
3. Select the "Settings" tab on the top right.
4. In the Color Palette list, click the number of colors that you want your monitor to display. For optimal use of this web site, select the highest possible number of colours that is supported by your hardware while allowing you to retain your chosen resolution (see "Desktop Area" slider to the right of the Color Palette list).
5. Click on the "Test" button and follow instructions from there.
6. When you are happy with the settings, click on "Apply" and then "OK".
Notes
Your monitor and display adapter determine the maximum number of colors that can appear on your screen. To quickly change your display mode, click List All Modes and select a mode.
To change your screen resolution
1. Minimise all your windows so that your desktop is visible.
2. Right-click on the desktop and click on "Properties".
3. Select the "Settings" tab on the top right.
4. Under Desktop Area, drag the slider.
5. Click on the "Test" button and follow instructions from there.
6. When you are happy with the settings, click on "Apply" and then "OK".
Notes
Your monitor and display adapter determine whether you can change your screen resolution. After you change the desktop area, click Test to determine if your monitor supports the selected resolution.
